About the campaign

The MLHS Alumni Scholarship Fund, established in 2020 by the Class of 1969, provides meaningful financial support to graduating Mountain Lakes High School seniors as they begin their college journeys. In just six years, alumni generosity has made it possible to award twenty impactful scholarships, all funded through tax-deductible contributions to the Mountain Lakes Alumni Association’s 501(c)(3) charitable account.

Scholarship recipients are selected based on three core criteria: strong academic achievement, a demonstrated commitment to serving others, and clear financial need. These standards ensure that each award supports students who not only excel in the classroom but also embody the values of the Mountain Lakes community.

The early success of this program highlights both the quality of its recipients and the significant need that exists. With continued support, there is a clear opportunity to expand the number and size of scholarships awarded each year, extending the program’s reach and impact.

We invite you to be part of this growing legacy. While the Fund has benefited from generous lead donors, continued momentum depends on broad alumni participation. Contributions of any size make a difference and are deeply appreciated.

Thank you for helping invest in the next generation of MLHS graduates.

Scholarship Stories

“I graduated from MLHS at a time when my family had lost our main source of income. Combined with a merit scholarship that I received, the MLHS Alumni Scholarship allowed me to attend the New Jersey Institute of Technology without putting further financial stress on my parents. Instead of having to pick up a job to cover tuition, I was able to focus on my studies and pursue Cross Country and Track & Field. Thanks to this generous scholarship, I am currently earning my degree, double majoring in Applied Mathematics and Computer Science, and I recently received the Elite 18 award from the America East athletic conference for outstanding academic achievement. I know the MLHS Alumni Scholarship has the power to help other talented Mountain Lakes graduates as it did for me, and hope it continues to do just that.”

Scholarship Stories

“Thank you for awarding me a Mountain Lakes High School Alumni Scholarship. Your generosity has made it possible for me to make my dreams come true. I plan to begin attending Cornell University this fall to study engineering and find ways to use artificial intelligence to improve healthcare outcomes. Now, I can go to college without anxiety about finances. Without this scholarship, I would not be able to afford student health insurance. I also will have the liberty to work less and focus on my courses. Thank you again for your support. Beyond assisting me, thank you on behalf of all of the students who have benefited from your generosity.”

Scholarship Stories

“I am a current student at the University of Delaware, and I am studying civil engineering. I am proud to have earned an MLHS Alumni Scholarship, and I thank the Committee for selecting me. Not only did the scholarship provide the financial help I needed toward my college tuition, but I will also be remembered as an MLHS Alumni Scholar. To earn a scholarship like this one is not easy, and I will forever be grateful for it.”
